The story begins over thirty-five years ago in 1988 when the new, fully-independent and family-owned brand Frederique Constant first saw the light of day in Geneva, the homeland of Swiss watchmaking. At the same time, a few hundred kilometres further south on the shores of Italy, the Riva Historical Society (RHS) was founded with the aim of preserving one of the coast’s most celebrated icons: the legendary Riva, a motorboat whose early models, hand-built using wood, embody the relaxed Italian way of life of the 1920s-1960s. In 2013, the brand and the non-profit struck up a relationship – and a partnership was born.\nFaithful to its tradition, each of the models are delivered in a special limited-edition box including a miniature wooden replica of a Runabout yacht. Paying tribute to the iconic designs of the elegant roaring twenties sports boats.\nThe Runabout Automatic models are powered by a FC-303 automatic caliber. The 26 jewel Swiss-made caliber, beating at 28’800 times per hour, and a 38-hour power reserve; the movement is protected by 50-meter water-resistant case that is perfect for boating.\nSince their alliance, Frederique Constant has created many limited-edition timepieces to support the noble work of the Riva Historical Society. Each piece draws inspiration from these Runabout boats’ heritage, imagery, and universe. Borrowing certain hallmarks relating to yachting and escapism, the “Runabout” line expresses the fine craftsmanship and luxury common to both enterprises and their creations. Each watch has an individual number engraved on the case back.
